Lane Engineers provided civil engineering design services which included grading and drainage plans, wet piping plans, pavement plans and off-site improvement plans. The grading and drainage design incorporated low impacted development techniques including bio-swales, french drains, and pervious concrete to infiltrate and convey storm water. In December of 2010, when the City of Visalia received heavy rainfall which left parts of SR 198 flooded and the City declaring a local emergency, it is noteworthy that this particular site performed exceptionally well under heavy rainfall and retained most of the storm water on site.

P.E. & Disabled Programs Facilities: LEI performed structural design and completion of construction documents for a new gymnasium, existing gymnasium renovation and new annex building addition. The new gymnasium consisted of steel-framed arch trusses, steel roof framing, concrete tilt-up wall panels, and light gage steel studs. The lateral design included concrete shearwalls and ordinary steel moment resisting frames. The existing gymnasium renovation consisted of evaluating existing framing to support new mechanical units and providing retrofit details. The annex building addition consisted of steel roof framing with light gage stud walls and steel concentric braced frames.

Nursing & Allied Health Center: LEI performed structural design and completion of construction documents for three (3) single-story buildings. The project included design of all structural members including light gage steel joists and studs, steel roof framing members and columns, lightweight concrete deck and glass block walls. The lateral design included steel deck diaphragm, steel ordinary moment resisting frames, steel concentric braced frames and light gage straps. The design of a roof-mounted solar panel framing system was also within the scope of this project.

Multi-Media Learning Center: LEI provided structural engineering services for a new two-story library and multi-media building designed with steel roof and floor framing members, concrete decking and concrete cast-in-place concrete shearwalls. Other services included completion of calculations and construction drawings; shepherding of structural documents through the State Architect’s office for approval; assistance to the architect and the owner during the bidding phase; and assistance to the architect, owner, and contractor during the construction phase (including regular site visits).

Provided structural engineering services for the architect from the schematic design phase through construction. These services included completion of calculations and construction drawings for five (5) classroom buildings, an administration building and a multi-purpose building. All classroom buildings were designed with pre-manufactured wood joists with concrete masonry walls. The administration building utilized pre-manufactured wood joists with concrete masonry walls with a wood-framed clock tower. The multi-use building consisted of steel trusses and concrete masonry walls with an elevated stage at one end of the structure.
